In the end Pete decided to get the old radiators in the house sandblasted and what a good decision that was because how beautiful did they come up, all the lovely detail that had been covered up with years of paint. Then Pete spray painted them cream. We had a bit of a calamity with the one in our bedroom which had developed a massive hole after the sandblasting, so while this is being repaired, it is still a tad chilly in our bedroom, but George and team are back on 11th January to finish off and install the repaired radiator.
We have also had the floors sanded, stained and oiled and they look absolutely beautiful (hallway, corridor, big lounge, balcony bedroom and our bedroom). Family bedroom, study and dining room come later after we have had the patched pine boards in the dining room (under the pool table) replaced with oak. We have decided to carpet Vincent's and Verity's rooms.
Finally, Dave has done a sterling job removing all the old pipes, and this meant removing the false ceiling with the polystyrene tiles in the upstairs toilet. He has basically plastered all the walls and ceilings in there so they are now ready to get whatever finish we want.
