Two weeks have zapped by.... oops

Well two whole weeks have just whizzed by and I haven't been able to update the blog. Part of this has been because I have been a bit poorly and part of it is because we have been so busy.

Last week (beg 6 October) was full of work and nursery and mostly just run of the mill normal life. One thing out of the ordinary was that Pete and I went to a showing of a new Rikki Lake film called 'The business of being born' that critiques maternity services in the US and contrasts it with experiences of home birth. It was at the Arts Centre and was put on by the NCT and was really well attended... about 200 people (probably only about 6 men!). Anyway, it was very informative. Ardha baby sat for Vincent who was as good as gold.

On Thursday I took Vincent swimming which of course he loved as normal. Then on Friday Emma came over with Freddie and because it was a nasty wet day so they couldn't go outside, Pete set up cushion mountain in the lounge.

Pete also managed to get a couple of good photos of Vincent wearing my sunglasses!

On Saturday afternoon, Bettina and Jon arrived for a visit along with Isabella (4 and a half) and Alexander (2). It was great to see them and amazingly after some time of mad playing in the garden, a pretty unsuccessful children's dinner (they were all too excited really to eat), we managed to get them all to bed so we were sitting down for our own dinner at about half eight. And even if I do say so myself, I made a most excellent chocolate cheesecake!

On Sunday morning it was such a glorious day we all headed off to the park for an hour or so before Bettina and Jon had to head back home to Wiltshire.

Last week was pretty much a loss because I was ill in bed from Tuesday afternoon until Friday morning... yuk. On Tuesday morning I had a seminar at Aston Uni and stupidly (even though I used to work there) had forgotten how far away it is from New Street station and had very sensibly decided to wear a pair of heels that morning. In the end I guess with the walk to Cov station as well, ended up walking over an hour in total in these stupid heel and by the time I got back home, I felt so wiped out and achy I had to go to bed. As it turns out, even though it was stupid to wear heels, this wasn't why I felt so bad. I ended up going to the doctors on Wednesday afternoon after talking to my mid wife who thought it could be a urine infection or something, and the doctor diagnosed a coldy/fluey virus thing. But... I had some glucose in my urine (nice) so he said for me to come back and get retested on Friday... which i did... and no longer any glucose but lots of blood... so now they think it might be a urine infection after all. Anyway, the sample has gone off to be tested and I'll find out next week, but luckily by Friday morning I felt fine again.

Friday night Pete and I went out for the night to celebrate Nicole's birthday and Olivia kindly baby sat for us. It was a great night, first down the Royal Oak and then inevitably finishing off at the Theatre! Pete was very hung over the next day but it was my lie-in ha ha. While I having said lie in, Pete got a couple of shots of Vincent wearing my gloves and hat that I had left in the lounge,

and OH NO!! playing his first computer game. Apparently by coincidence Vincent was playing around with the controller, managed to turn on the xbox and was watching the man move around as he randomly pressed buttons.
