A major event that has happened since I last blogged is that we have sold our house and our offer has been accepted on the big house in Warwick Avenue. It is all excitement because we thought we had lost out to the other buyer and then we lost the offer on our house so we had thought that we were having to start all over again. Then surprise surprise we found out that the other buyer was actually messing the vendor around and the buyers who had made the lower offer on our house were still interested so we possibly had another option. So the estate agent gave the other buyer of Warwick Avenue an ultimatum to get contracts sorted by a particular date, they didn't meet it and so the vendor decided to accept our offer even though it was lower. Phew! So here we are. How exciting.... and scary! So far the survey has been done on our house and nothing came up, and our survey on Warwick Avenue was done today so all being well with that we could be moving quite soon after we come back from our Indonesian adventure.
Pete has put together these pictures from Google Earth to show where we are moving to and what the plot looks like:

So we will see how things proceed...
Onto other things... Verity is doing well and touch wood seems to be very easy going at the moment. When Helena weighed her at 4 and a half weeks, she was 4.32kg (9lbs 8oz) so had made up her weight loss and surpassed her birth weight. She is so long and is already nearly outgrowing the 0-3 month baby gros (just her legs really). She has started to smile now but haven't managed to capture one on camera as yet!
Dad arrived on Friday 20th and then headed up to Manchester to watch a West Ham match with Stephen and Lauren. We had Ardha's party that Saturday night (Verity's first social outing). Vincent was as good as gold, and having been at a friend's 2nd birthday party earlier in the day (and eaten his own body weight in crisps, cake and sweets)
he crashed out on Ardha's spare bed at 8ish and didn't wake once even though the party was in full swing until we woke him up to drive home at 1am!
Poor Dad doesn't get much of an exciting time with us now we have two little ones and don't go out much! But Vincent was very pleased to see his DadDad (how Vincent says Grandad) and loves the lovely red trike that he got for his birthday from him.
This was Pete's first week back at work after paternity leave, and so my first time with Verity by myself (Vincent is at nursery Tuesdays and Wednesdays) and the two of them by myself on Thursdays (easy life eh... how did our Mums cope...and Kathryn for that matter!!).
We had a little trial with trainer pants and Vincent this week...however have decided it is too early yet. Twice in one morning Vincent was totally soaked through and when we said 'Vincent..are you wet?', He said 'No' and appeared to be totally unaffected by and unconcerned about walking round completely wet. We will try again in a few weeks when he might be a bit more aware.
On Friday before Dad left, we went for lunch at The Cottage. Vincent was hilarious dipping a plaice goujon in a pot of tartare sauce very delicately. Then he wanted just the sauce on his plate and spooned in a large spoonful which not surprisingly didn't taste very nice! He was sticking his tongue out and saying 'icky!'.
On Saturday morning I went off to help at the NCT baby fair with Verity and Pete and Vincent headed off to the park. Once we got back we drove to Pete's mate (and whose company he contracts to)Paul Waskitt's house, where Steve and Sue were also visiting. It was good to see them and their little boy James and to see Steve and Sue's little boy Jack.
Yesterday (Monday) Helena came for her final visit (sad really after her being around so much the last year)
Poor little Verity... she came out with this rash on her face and chest before the weekend (you can see them on this picture below)
and so I made an appointment immediately thinking it was measles or something but turns out it is eczema.. lashings and lashings of aqueous cream later and it is improved but we'll have to be careful about soaps etc.
We have also successfully gotten Verity to take a bottle of expressed milk... no messing about at all, she sucked away straight off and then went back to the breast just as easy next feed. That's great if we would like to go out and Pete likes to get to feed her too.
