Verity's Baptism

 

Well...I steeled myself for another party...various relations arrived bit by bit..Aunty Anne and Uncle Bruce, Dave on Friday night. Then David and Mark and Julie on Saturday and everyone else on the Sunday. I was cooking madly, and even managed to make the Christening Cake (ended up making 3: the first was gluten free and wouldnt cook properly) which turned out nice in the end.

The day was great, and Verity looked beautiful (unfortunate that the weather was so awful...I can't believe our second party also had rain so we couldnt go outside in the garden!)The ceremony was nice and I knew the other couple and their baby Emily who was getting baptised too so that was a bonus. The funniest thing was when we were on the altar having the various prayers said, Vincent came running up and said loudly (and proudly) "I've done a wee wee in my pants!"...We were trying not to laugh. Vincent is being a cheeky monkey at the moment and this time was definitely egged on by his cousins! Ardha, Dave and Linda were stirling godparents and Linda's beautiful handmade shawl was perfect. Lauren's Mum and Dad Elaine and Mike were there too and it was great to have them part of things. They also showed how well they fitted in with everything, staying up with us stalwarts until 2am dancing the night away!
