House renovation and decoration

Quite a lot of progress since I last blogged: little lounge been totally redecorated, as has the bathroom and our bedroom. Tony our friend from the theatre has been fantastic and what a brilliant job he has done of the rooms.
Our bedroom was fun.... taking down a bit of blown plaster from an old leak uncovered a total botch job on the main ceiling joist in the bay: they had fixed some rotten wood in the joist by fixing some floor boards to it!! Anyway, all fixed properly now. Pete became an expert caster, making latex moulds of the plaster roses (2 of which we lost as the decoration was happening) and plaster panel surrounds and then making some new ones: you just can’t tell the difference. Pete has also uncovered the door between our room and the balcony room that had been panelled over: we’re going to reinvigorate it as a dressing room as it was originally.

I’ve been busy making curtains for the lounge and am now starting on our bedroom ones. Much better values than some of the horrendous quotes we had for them!

The bathroom is fun... our homage to the 1950s angel fish wallpaper. Vincent loves all the fishes.
The garden is starting to really come into bloom now.
