Karl and Joyce's Wedding

We flew up to Edinburgh on Friday late afternoon ready for Karl and Joyce's wedding on September 18th. Karl is one of Pete's university friends: in fact they lived together for the last 2 years of undergraduate, the year of the Masters and the three years of the PhD! Karl was one of Pete's ushers at our wedding. Joyce, Karl's now wife has exactly the same birth date as me.... how weird: not just the same birthday, we are exactly the same age!!

The wedding was at this gorgeous place called Dalhousie Castle just 25 mins from the airport, but on finding out that a night's stay there was £250 (eek!), we stayed elsewhere 2 miles away. As it turned out the place was perfect: a great guesthouse in which we stayed in the Coach House, so had a bedroom, kitchen and living room which was great for the children.

We had such fun at the wedding, getting to see old friends we haven't seen for years such as Jim and Lorna and their two children, and best of all, Simon Whitby and his girlfriend Helen... who was sporting a lovely little 14 week pregnancy bump... hooray!! Great news for them, we were so pleased. Somehow or other we managed in our usual fashion to get no photos of them! Typical.

Vincent has really got into dancing now (think that is Annalise and Juliette's good influence) and loved dancing to the celidh music. Then about 10ish he got into his pyjamas and curled up on the large window sill to sleep. On packing up the next day, we found we didn't have his shoes or outfit and the castle couldn't find them when we rang so Vincent had to spend the whole journey home in his socks! Today (23rd Sept) I went out to buy him some more shoes (Kathryn you will remember how much these were... grrrrrr!) and I was just coming out of the shop when I thought I would just get Pete to check with the castle again and lo and behold in the nick of time they had found them and are going to post them.

Only other event on the journey was that Verity threw up all over me on the very bumpy turbulent descent into Birmingham airport.... yuck.... and poor people sitting around us! I had to take my top off and put Pete's jumper on... it was covered! Verity is DEFINITELY travel sick poor thing.
