Well it is only a few days till Browning Version/Still Life opens (opening night this Saturday 16th). We have been rehearsing furiously for this, while also coordinating a couple of Little Shop rehearsals and Pete is obviously rehearsing his play too (which opens on Nov 4th!). Very busy times.
It was first rehearsal for me with all costume/hair etc on Sunday. Very pleased with all my costumes, which is usually unheard of! I have to make my hair 40s in the first half, and then 30s in the second half, and I have 5 costume changes in the second play Still life, so there is some furious changing in the wings! I also have to smoke 6 cigarettes during the 2 plays (6 a night: phew!!)- not whole cigarettes but still a fair amount of puffing... have managed to do it by smoking menthols! Getting the hair right has meant hours in rollers, and I will have to go to work a couple of afternoons in the week of the run with my hair in the rollers under a scarf, Hilda Ogden style... ha ha ha. I also have had to dye my hair dark brown: am quite getting used to it now.
Amongst all that, we're still managing to play with the children, go to the park, and visit friends. Oh and of course work... I've had first week of term and my week as Director of the MA: we have a target of 50 students, usually hope to get 45 which is a nice copeable number.... we are now up to 69.....!!!!.... they have all turned up... eek! Signs of the times I guess: they can't get jobs so do a Masters instead. Has caused a few logistical issues for us though.
All fun!
