Nov 3-9

Busy week for me workwise with me staying over in London Friday night. Ooh I hate London now we don't live there and this was just enforced for me by the fact that I was caught up in an escalator pile up at rush hour in Kings Cross Station. My colleague Mary was in front of me and then in front of her was a man holding the hand of a small boy. At the end of the escalator, the man fell, the boy fell, Mary fell and then I fell and imagine that there are two lines of heavily packed commuters stretching up the entire escalator. Somehow I managed to get around Mary and to the bottom to stand up (I just had visions of getting stamped on) and then gurads came rsuhing over and tried to stop the escalator but the automatic stop button wouldnt work. Then with all the shock of it I burst into tears! More about what could have happened than what did. As it turned out, eveyone was okay but it culd have been so different.

Then on Saturday I was at this conference presenting a paper on the Holloway road, and because it was an arsenal match day, when I finally tried to wend my way back to Euston, the tube station was closed (I managed to blag my way in as they were letting in disabled people) and the whole journey back to Euston was just one of being constantly jostled and pushed. Not nice.

I was very glad to get back to Coventry I can tell you.
