Bank Holiday Weekend Away

Have realised if I dont put this post up it will be so late, but I will add photos later so please go back to see them.

Well this weekend has seen a long overdue trip to Wickford (we haven't been since before we went on our trip so November!). We travelled down Friday after lunch and had an okay journey considering that the traffic is always nightmarish on bank holiday weekend.

Friday night we spent at Janet and Pat's, and then around 830pm Dave and Bradley, and then later Claire and Antony and Finlay turned up: it was great to see them all. Pete had his Wii Fit out and so everyone (except me!) was playing on it... people doing hula hooping is hilarious to watch.

Saturday in the day we headed over the Hanningfield Reservoir to see where Dave lives now...shall we say a bijou lakeside apartment... it is small (Dave calls it the shed) but has everything he needs and he can go fishing whenever he likes! The location is lovely, acres and acres of fields and lakes, and the weather was so good that we spent quite a while flying a kite up there (Vincent slept right through this!).

Bradley was there, as Dave has all the boys every other weekend and then just one of the boys the other weekend. Also met Natasha, Dave's current girlfriend who seems nice. We then went to Battlesbridge via Victoria Avenue to pick Janet and Pat up and had a lovely lunch at the Barge Inn. Vincent was very grumpy all afternoon though and I think he is cutting some more teeth... well something is up anyway.

After that we headed over for a brief visit to Basildon to see Emma and Paul and their little boy Freddie who is only a day older than Vincent. The boys (Vincent and Freddie, not Paul and Pete!) were both a bit grumpy it has to be said but it was really nice to see them all.

Janet and Pat have a great climbing frame thing in the garden, and the weather was good enough for Vincent to play on it when we got back: he loved it.

Saturday evening, I went with Janet and Pat to see Basildon Operatic Society's production of Pirates of Penzance, as Pete's Uncle John was in the chorus (he was a hilarious policeman in black lycra tights!). It was an enjoyable production, with two excellent voices for the Pirate King and Mabel, although some of the others were a bit ropey and it was a bit odd to see all the maidens come running out, at least half of whom were over 40! (actually so were half the pirates!) But maybe that's what our productions seemed like at Dubai and Sharjah Singers too!!

Vincent was up screaming in the middle of the night and had a high fever so as I said, definitely something up, but seemed okay Sunday morning.

Sunday was a nice lazy day (the weather was atrocious anyway), Pete's Aunty Myrtle and Uncle Terry popped over in the evening and then we just lazed in front of the television and watched trashy programmes.

On Monday, Janet gave Vincent his first haircut (just the fringe... he was becoming a very 'can't see my way dog')

Then Claire and the boys came over so we got to spend some more time with them. Vincent got used to his cousins after about an hour!

Then about 130pm and with the weather still terrible, we made the drive home.
